  • New countries were banned

Posted on November 22nd, 2009 webmaster 2 comments

We regret to announce that 3 more countries were added to our ban list.

Due do amount of spam coming from India we hardly decided to ban this country for good. We took this decision not only because adverts from this country are 99% spam, but also because there is a very very low commercial benefit from having them as visitors. It’s a waste of bandwidth and time for moderation to allow visitors from this country on our website.

The other 2 countries are Nigeria and Cameroon. The posters from these African countries are prolific scammers and we also decided to ban them forever.

Last, but not least, Pakistan stays banned and we renewed the IP ranges for a better filtering.

The next countries on the black list are China, Indonesia, Malaysia and South Africa.

We remind you AdsFarm is a classified ads website United Kingdom and Ireland targeted.

Latest edit (27.11.2009): India is allowed again. It seems that our search engine traffic significantly decreased after we banned this country. Anyway, we improve our antispam filter everyday.

    • I wish there was an easy way to just ban countries from your site. I have run websites for a long time and have never found a way to just block an entire country from accessing my sites.

I have always wanted to block Israel since I hate those stinking jews….and also block Saudi Arabia and all those other towel head countries.

    • You need to get the country’s ip tables and add it in .htaccess with a < Limit > directive. Eg:

< Limit GET HEAD POST >
      order allow,deny

      # Country: CAMEROON
      # ISO Code: CM
      # Total Networks: 16
      # Total Subnets: 100,864
      deny from 41.92.128.0/17
      deny from 41.190.224.0/22
      deny from 41.191.100.0/22
      #etc etc etc

      allow from all
      < /Limit >
